Meizu M8 Project On Temporary Hold – Apr 01, 2008 – 10:30 AM
The reason given for the hold was that Meizu was that quickly loosing market share on the domestic Chinese market, and needed to focus on releasing another MP3 player, Meizu M7, before their mobile phone debut. The Meizu M8 has caused Meizu to fall behind other Chinese brands now adopting large touch sensitive screens, multiple codec on-the-go video decoding, and recently also TV-Out to their MP3 players.
More details will be posted as they become available.
Meizu M8 Has New Interface – March 23, 2008
The Meizu M8 now sports a new interface, coming in an all-black form factor complete with a similar color scheme in the user interface. Targeting a China release this August, many people will still associate the Meizu M8 as nothing but an iPhone clone. It remains to be seen whether this accusation holds true when we actually hold one in our hands, but music addicts who are on the lookout for something fresh and different after a steady diet of nothing but iPods could do well check this out and discover something new.

Live shots of Meizu miniOne M8 CeBIT Prototype – Mar 04, 2008 – 11:26 AM

The folks over at Engadget have now visted the Meizu CeBIT booth again, and this time taken photos of the Meizu M8 miniOne engineering prototype next to a iPhone for comparison.
We now finally see how the rumored three button layout is going to look like on the M8.
Meizu CEO Jack Wong said earlier that the plastics on the CeBIT prototype were not the final production materials, which explains why there is a white part on the back of the phone that does not fit with the overall design.

Meizu M8 miniOne Really Not at CeBIT? – Mar 04, 2008 – 4:04 AM

The Meizu M8 did not make it to CES, but was promised by Meizu CEO to show up at CeBIT. Yesterday, Engadget rushed to the Meizu CeBIT booth only to find the old plastic dummy of the M8 miniOne.
After seeing this, Chinese Meizu fans have created something of an uprising on Meizu’s BBS forum. In response, Jack somewhat unwillingly admitted that a engineering prototype was indeed brought to CeBIT together with two development boards.
In other forum posts, Jack also mentioned that the Meizu M8 will have a multi-touch touchscreen utilizing better technology than the Apple iPhone and that he expects the 8GB Meizu M8 to cost 2380 CNY (approx. $340 USD).
